    Display driver update failing

Using Windows 10 Home version 6004 on Lenovo C340 – Ideapad with Display Adapters – IntelR UHD Graphics 620 and driver version 15.40.45.5126 at start in November, 2019. Since 1st July auto updating has been unsuccessfully trying to install driver version 26.20.100.7323 with Error Encountered message – “A current driver on your PC may be better than the driver we’re trying to install. We’ll keep trying to install”. However, Update History driver updates for every instance state –“ Intel Corporation Display 26.20.100.7373 Successfully installed on ##/0##/2020”. This keeps happening with every auto update. On 30/08/2020 I accessed the Intel Driver Support Assistant and downloaded driver version 27.20.1000.8587 to install figuring that might succeed where 26.20.100.7373 was failing. However, the process went into a restart loop every time. The Graphics 620 Events Log between 30.08.2020 16.58.44 and 17.03.26 records:

    Device configured oem40.inf

    Device configured oem24.inf

    Device not started igfx

The above repeated three times until I canned the process.

Bizarrely enough under the Graphics 620 Properties Driver tab the Driver Version shown is 27.20.100.8587

However, as above, the Update History driver updates are only show 26.20.100. 7323 supposedly installed.

Win 10 does not allow selectively exclusion of updates from the automatic process and only allows pausing for up to 35 days.

Does anyone know how to successfully install this driver update or exclude from the auto updating?

    :)

Please note that updating to the newest version of the display driver might not fix the issue in some cases. In other words, you might see the error even when you are running the latest version of the display driver. If updating the driver didn’t help,
