Windows 10: Display light keeps flickering/adjusting on its own on windows os version 1903

I just purchased a new HP laptop (cr10005). I notice that the display light keeps changing own it's own. For instance, when there is more light in the room, the display becomes a bit more lighter and then dims. It's a very subtle light change but it's annoying because it keeps switching on its own.


I have tried switching off the adaptive brightness, but that option doesn't seem available (as in the button itself is not there in the battery option).


Can someone please help.

1903 version night light not working

it is a known issue in 1903

Night light settings do not apply in some cases

Microsoft has identified some scenarios where night light settings may stop working, for example:

Connecting to (or disconnecting from) an external monitor, dock, or projector

Rotating the screen

Updating display drivers or making other display mode changes

Affected platforms:

Client: Windows 10, version 1903

Workaround: If you find that your night light settings have stopped working, try turning the night light on and off, or restart your computer.

Note We recommend that you do not attempt to manually update using the Update now button or the Media Creation Tool until this issue has been resolved.

Display flickers after update to Windows 10 Version 1809

I've been running Windows 10 for a long time, and today it was automatically updated to Version 1809. After the update, my display now flickers. I poked around and found the troubleshooting tip that says "Screen flickering in Windows
10 is usually caused by an incompatible app or display driver. To determine whether an app or driver is causing the problem, check to see if Task Manager flickers. Then, based on that information, you'll need to either update the app or the display driver".

When the Task Manager flickers, which it does, the "fix" is to update the display driver. I followed the step-by-step instructions on how to do that, which involved deleting the display driver and then updating it to the current one. The device
manager tells me I have the best driver for the device and windows update confirms that I'm up to date. But the display still flickers.

The graphics card is an Intel HD, Driver date is 5/19/2016, Driver version is 9.1.7.10.4459.
