Windows 10: Display not working

    Display not working


    Hi there,

    I have a Lenovo Yoga720 & a ViewSonic VX3258-PC-mhd display, using a Samsung USB-C to HDMI adapter.

    This exact setup was working on my TV Linden 40" LED/LCD, model 'L40MTV17a' perfectly.


    I am getting "no signal" no matter what I do. This is not an issue with the monitor or cable as I can use Samsung Dex with the same set up literally unplug from computer, plug into phone - bingo. Additionally, I have borrowed my partner's monitor same model which has had the same issue. So it is something to do with the Computer display set up.


    I have:

    1. updated all the Windows updates

    2. updated Bios

    3. updated then uninstall/reinstall display drivers through device manager & Lenovo's site

    4. updated Windows pnp driver

    5. run "sfc /scannow" which did not return any integrity violations

    6. the USB-C connections the right way around charger is the rear port, output is front. But also swapped them just to check.

    7. Turned off & disconnected the whole lot for 10 min then reconnected


    *not necessarily all in that order but I checked the connection after each troubleshoot


    I'm not sure if an issue but there is a "Citrix Indirect Display Adapter" however this has been updated etc.


    I am really at a loss, there must be some dumb random thing I am missing.

    The tutorials provided are just a list of troubleshooting steps. Use only the steps which apply to you.

    Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.

    Display driver not supporting and device manager not showing Display adapter option

    Hi Maheen,

    Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

    This issue could have occurred due to these reasons:

    • Incorrect settings.
    • Corrupt or outdated display driver.
    Try the steps listed here and check if it helps:

    Method 1:

    I suggest you to download and install all the available Windows Updates including Optional Updates. Check if it helps.

    Method 2:

    If the issue persists, i suggest you to uninstall and re-install latest display driver from the computer manufacturer website and check if it helps.

    Step 1: Uninstall display driver.

    • Right-click on the Start Button and click on
      Device manager.
    • Double-click on Display Adapters to expand.
    • Right-click on the display adapter driver that is listed and select properties.
    • In the window opened, click on drivers tab.
    • In the drivers tab, Click on Uninstall option.
    Now restart your computer and check, if the problem persists try step 2.

    Step 2:

    Re-install display driver from the manufacturer website.
