  1. Display resolution issues

The normal display resolution for my computer screen is 1920 x 1080. Lately, for reasons I can't fathom, I'll wake the computer up and the resolution will have changed to 1680 x 1050. This produces a stretched, kind of squashed appearance. When I go to Display Settings, the "recommended" resolution has become 1600 x 900. Selecting this brings everything back into proportion, but about 20%-30% larger. When I try to change it back to 1920 x 1080, Windows says it can't do that and to choose another resolution.

When I restart the computer, the resolution comes up 1680 x 1050. Going to Display Settings after restart, however, the "recommended" resolution goes back to the original 1920 x 1080, which is what I've always had since buying the thing seven years ago. And it will stay at this desired resolution until the next "event" happens. I don't have a clue why it's started making these random changes. If anyone has ideas how to make it stop, I'll be grateful.

    Thanks, Ed LeRoy

    :)
