Disrupted network after upgrade to 1511

    Hi,
Two of my three-computer network upgraded to W10 1511 from 10240, and ever since these two won’t see each other in their respective Network folder. The remainder can see them both but it is still a W10 10240, which indicates that there is a problem with the latest version. I have spent nearly four days trying to figure out what it is with no avail. I certainly would appreciate some help.
    Thanks

    :)

  2. Update KB3185614 breaks access to Netgear ReadyNAS networked storage

This update caused major network issues on 100% of Win 10 1511 workstations. It disrupted Novell mapped drives and various other network reliant applications. We removed it completely and everything is back to normal. We did not investigate further, but
just saying this is not merely a NAS related issue.

Send page by email not working in IE11

So is there a specific known patch that can be uninstalled, does this work in Windows 10 1511?

I am supporting someone now who we thought we "upgraded" and because he uses this feature so much, hes completely disrupted.

You need to update to the 10586 that is out now. Also it may be the SMB 2 & 3 issue that a lot of us have been dealing with, or 3rd party Internet Security Software, that the vendor may not have had a chance to update to keep up with the issues that Microsoft has had on the past 3 roll outs. To do the disable of SMB 2 & 3 as Client, see this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2696547 Scroll down to where it talks about "How to enable or disable SMB protocols on the SMB client" All computers on a normal Windows network are considered Client/Server, so the last part should hopefully fix anything bad.

If running any kind of third party Internet Security software on the machines, disable that. Also make sure that the Advanced File & Printer Sharing options are set to allow discovery on the network. If the Windows Firewall is on by default, shut it off to make sure that cannot be the issue.

Also do a Winsock Rest and FlushDNS. Do this first:

Note You must be logged on to the computer as an administrator to perform the steps.

For Windows 8 and Windows 8.1
On the Start screen, type CMD. In the search results, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
At the command prompt, enter the following command, and then press Enter:
    netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
Note If you don't want to specify a directory path for the log file, run the following command instead:
    netsh int ip reset

Before rebooting, in the Cmd window enter ipconfig /flushdns also netsh winsock reset

There is a Farbar tool in bleepingcomputer .com's downloads repository that does the IP flush & reset.

    Hi and thanks Bro67.
Microsoft calls the latest run of Windows 10 version 1511 OS build 10586.63, which is what I have in my computers and you advice me to upgrade to. With this out of the way, shall I continue to try your solution?

If you already have the newest push, just need to do the fixes then. They are calling 10586.63 as 1511 to keep up with the push for the Windows phones and Surface, which is really a stupid after the fact question why sales still dictates how the software engineers should be handling the product, so that we are not dealing with these headaches.

Go through the info that I posted. Still a problem, there is a thread ongoing at the top, which may soon to be started with a new one, because it has gotten quite large since December. Also the Farbar tools do come in handy. I would keep them available for stuff like this. He has been keeping them up to date with Windows 10.
