  1. Distorted and weird colors after system restore to original. HP ntbk

    Hi!
    I have an HP 15z aw000; ProId-VSC49AV I am hugely frustrated with Win 10! Am I allowed to say the H@te word?The colors and photos are distorted after a System Restore, and I have tried everything I can think of to fix it. I've gone to settings;
    themes;
    background
    blah, blah, blah, for 2 days now. My photos and those on the web look like an X-Ray... it's very strange! My background colors are black with a light bluish-grey tone....
    Can anyone out there advise me? I sent in my previous computer to HP repair, ( still under warranty) and they lost it, along with everything on it and then lied about it. Then I was finally able to get the right person who gave me a credit toward a new computer. Which had to be built. Which took 7 more weeks. Which took, all in, 4 months to get a working computer back. And now this one had begun to be slower than it should be for a system that is only 4 months old. Am I giving too much information to you?? Any help will be enormously appreciated!

    :)

  3. Annoying display color correction

    Hello,

    I use Windows 10, and I noticed that since today, Windows adjusts (or should I say distorts) the colors depending on what's on screen. If there is a lot of white, all the colors are displayed correctly and the screen is at full brightness. But when I switch
    to something dark, for instance, VS17 in dark UI mode, the screen gets dimmer and the colors get distorted, almost as if Windows is putting a color washout filter on top of the screen. I have found nothing about where this problem might come from since I have
    not enabled any color correction and my brightness is always 100% (even when the described scenario happens, it still shows 100% brightness), and adaptive brightness is turned off.

    I have found nothing that can help me disable this. Also, I can't record the event, any screenshot shows the original colors before the distortions.

    Please help me, Anthony

    Welcome to the Ten forums.

    Might I first ask what initiated the System Restore? I'm also not sure what the the Prold-VSC49AV is in reference too. If I search on Google it brings me back to your original post.

    HP has a specific driver for your device. As a first step I would download and install it. With it installed if the colors remain X-Ray quality then you will want to enter the AMD control center, and you can reset color to defaults. You should see an icon in your systray, it may be a hidden icon requireing you to click on arrow head at the left of your icons. (I think this device is still using Catalyst Control Center)

  5. The reason: My computer had begun to run very slowly, the text looked different and I suspected a virus. I went to the system restore to restore it to a week prior and somehow wiped my entire data out.
    When I started it up the next day, Bing, of course, was where I had to begin. I actually tried using Bing but I don't like it, so switched to Google Chrome. I get so frustrated with Win 10 that I want to poke a finger in my eye and scream cuss words!
    They should have sent a book with this new release. :>) I'll try your suggestion and pray that it works. Thank you so very much for your reply during this busy time of the year.
    The PROID is, I believe, is short for Product Id. I got it from the bottom of the computer next to the model #. Probably should have given you that instead

    Also, just FYI... the colors on this page are a solid black background and white text with any highlighted text being YELLOW *Mad

  6. I have run into a problem downloading what you suggested... did you mean that I need to replace this information on my computer or add it? I tried one of the drivers but when it asked me to replace the one existing, that threw me off. So appreciative of your time, Happy Holidays!

  7. Yes you need to replace. My thinking is the wrong driver is installed or it has become corrupted. You video should not look like x-rays. You said this started with a System restore which you invoked because it was acting slow and text was funny. Suspected virus.

    By loading the appropriate AMD drivers my thought is your video should return to normal. You should only be downloading one file, the AMD Graphic driver version 16.1010.1701,1001. It is likely an exe which you will double click and approve to execute. AMD has started downloading some game platform which you may or maybe not be interested in. You choose whether to install. You want their driver and the controlling software which I believe in this series is called Catalyst Control Center.

    You may wish to download malwarebytes from malwarebytes.com. Its free and it is very effective in finding and removing the undesirables like viruses, trojans and such.

    One last thing. To be on the ultra safe side, please ensure you have a copy of your data on a device outside your computer. This process should not cause a catastrophic failure but our Data is always worth protecting.
