  1. DistributedCOM 10016 Errors: "The application-specific permission settings do not grant...

    There are several DistributedCOM errors that appear when shortly after I log-in to Windows and while I am using my laptop. One of these errors is only identified by alpha-numeric CLSID and APPID designations, but others are listed specifically as having to do with Windows Security Center.

    One, which appeared on only one occasion, mentioned the Content Delivery Manager.
    These were appearing BEFORE the 1809 Feature Update, since at least version(s) 1703/1706. (One or two others may have appeared before the 1809 update, but I don't see them anymore.)

    The details for each (in the Event Viewer) state that "the application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission" for a number of COM Server applications "to the user "NT AUTHORITY\LOCAL SERVICE SID (S-1-5-19)" and "NT AUTHORITY\LOCAL SERVICE SID (S-1-5-18)", both from "address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable)".

    I guess that these might be fixed with the Registry Editor, but I hope that another Update will fix these issues the way that the other errors seem to have been.

    I already chatted with Microsoft support; instead of helping (perhaps this issue was above their pay-grade), they referred me to Microsoft Pro IT. (FYI: a ONE-TIME service from them will cost you $400!! "Micro$oft", indeed.)

    The details from the Event Viewer appear below:

  2. DistributedCOM permission settings Error 10016 -should I resolve this?

    Inside W10's Event Viewer, I see an error with ID of 10016 (DistributedCOM). Its error description is -

    The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
    { (long number) }
    and APPID
    { (long number) }
    to the user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM SID (S-1-5-18) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

    This error message says that I can modify security permission. As this topic is over my head, I don't know if I should do this or not. Thanks for any comments on this issue.
