Windows 10: DLL error trying to run an old game on windows 10

I've finally been able to find a copy of Section 8 [2009] for the PC [360 is broken] and i installed it on my computer. Problem is, after installation when i try to run it, i'm met with "The code execution could not proceed because wxmsw28u_core_vc_custom.dll was not found". I've tried compatibility mode, several command prompts, everything i could think of but nothing has worked. I'm currently running Windows 10 Home. Doesn't microsoft have anything i can use to fix the issue or did i just waste my money on a game i'll never be able to run?If anyone knows any reliable work-arounds to get it t

• Have you downloaded a fresh copy of the installation file and tried to re-install it when you say: "uninstalling it and reinstalling"?

• What are the troubleshooting steps you have tried when you say: "i ve run all sorts of tests"?

This issue might have occurred due to corrupted/ missing system files. Try the below troubleshooting steps and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to run a SFC scan and check if it helps.

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

Follow the below steps:

Windows 10,Run DLL error pop up

Hello - I am also have DLL issues with Windows 10. I get a rundll error when I try to go to settings.

The error says error running VVCE8/.../MSHTML - the parameter is incorrect.

I tried both suggestions listed above with no success. Any help appreciated....

I would suggest you to refer the below link and check the compatibility of the game with Windows 10.

You may also try installing the game in compatibility mode.
Follow these steps to install the game software in compatibility mode and check if that helps.

        Right-click on the game setup file and click on
        ‘properties’.
        
      • 
        Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box
        ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select Windows 8 operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation. Once this is done, restart the computer and check if the issue persists.
        

If the issue still persists, I would suggest you to get in touch with the game manufacturer if it’s specific to that particular game.
