Windows 10: DMI Pool Hang...Windows 10 Recovery?

Is it still under warranty? If so, call the MFG and do their troubleshooting. They may have you RMA the thing.

Can't even boot to windows 7 to reinstall on ssd. I think the fix is to put this whole thing in the trash and upgrade.

Sometimes when it boots it just goes past dmi to a black screen with a flashing cursor. Does that mean anything?

 

I can't clone the disk because my old one is 3tb and the new one is 500gb...ughhhhhhh.

If I get this cloned, how do you keep two identical disks on the pc without serious boot problems? How do I make sure it boots to the new and not the old?

 

You can't clone - you'd have to image. Cloning would give two drives the same ID and you can't have two drives with the same ID in a system at the same time. I believe the imaging can be accomplished with Macrium Reflect. That's in the Custom Rescue Media. I am not a Macrium expert; you'd have to google how to do that, but I'm pretty sure it can be done...as long as the amount of data on the 3TB is smaller than the size of the drive you are imaging "to".

 

Cloned disk. Won't boot from it either. Guess I'll reinstall win 10 starting with win 7 on the ssd. If that doesn't get it, then it MUST be a motherboard issue and I'll have to build a new system.

 

I started all over with my SSD disk. Reinstalled everything. Ill have to see how it goes. I think its safe to say that if this disk causes trouble, then its most certainly motherboard related and likely time to upgrade. The original 3TB disk is still intact, but not plugged in or in use.

 

So it's working for now with a clean install on the SSD? Yeah, could be a MB issue if it crops up again. *Sad
