    NEED HELP WITH DNSAPI.DLL

    same problem. my computer did windows updates then windows found this "virus" and I removed it causing the dnsapi.dll error. did microsoft flag its own file as a virus?

    Trojan:Win64/Patched.AZ.gen!dll returned after fresh dnsapi.dll file

    I foolishly picked up a Trojan virus (Trojan:Win64/Patched.AZ.gen!dll) on my media PC a few nights ago and, after some battling, managed to remove all the software it added, and regain access to the internet. However, I was unable to remove the virus from
    the dnsapi.dll file.

    Eventually, in a fit of despair, I renamed the file and deleted it altogether, which removed the virus. Of course, I could no longer access the internet. However, I copied the dnsapi.dll file from my primary use PC, and pasted it into the system32 folder
    of the media PC. Lo and behold, Windows Defender immediately reported that the PC was once again infected with Trojan:Win64/Patched.AZ.gen!dll in the dnsapi.dll file.

    I've scanned my primary use PC, and it's clean. Does this suggest that the virus is hiding somewhere else in the Media PC, and attacking the dnsapi.dll file as soon as I replace it?
