      • OS: Windows 10
      • Processor: Intel i7-4770 3.4 GHz
      • Memory: 8 GB RAM
      • Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 980




    So I think I am in the recommended zone. But its true that my rig is getting old. Im am considering AMD ZEN the day it comes out, but I really want to stick with my fx 8350 for now. I have a feeling that a 1070 would help, but Im not sure. Are you able to see whats wrong out of the picture below that I took today? Do you see any signs if its the CPU or the GPU? The GPU usage are jumping up and down alot, but I dont know if that is normal, or if its a bottleneck from the CPU. Any ideas?

    I've reached the limits of my incompetence, so I'm not sure I can contribute much more. The FX 8350 seems to be an "interesting" CPU in much of what I read about it, so there may be something about the way it picks up the load for the second core in each processing unit that's contributing to the stuttering. Have you found any rigs that actually play the game well? I've seen weird stuff happen over the years -- such as games that work better on Intel or on AMD and basically suck on the other (good on Intel/bad on AMD; bad on Intel/good on AMD). Could be something just that boneheaded. I guess it all depends on how important the VR stuff is to you. Ask the developers what kinds of rigs they build on: that might be your safest choice. I can put you in touch with my buddy Tom S. who tests motherboards and GPUs for Tom's Hardware, if you want to take this further. He knows a lot more about this than I do, and I think you need help more expert than mine at this point.
