  1. Do I need a HomeGroup

Early on I created a HomeGroup for these two machines. Never used it for anything. We both operate fine on the network as is. Since the FCUpdate, the HomeGroup disappeared. Doing some research I've cleaned up behind it's removal.

My question is: Is there any advantage to having a HomeGroup the way we're working?

    Appreciate your input. Thanks ...

    :)

Do I or do I not have a Homegroup?

I have resolved this issue, but not with help from any of the advice given here.

I've left a post in the community somewhere entitled "Phantom Homegroup Gone" explaining how I did it. I think it's in Windows 10/Networking.

(Why can't we search for our own posts? It would make it much easier to locate things.)

Do I or do I not have a Homegroup?

Thanks Robert. I did see this somewhere else and went into my modem settings and activated IVp6. There were lots of settings there I didn't understand so I just selected "Auto" but it doesn't seem to have any effect. As I said in a reply to RodeoD, the
original Homegroup was set up from a desktop PC that doesn't exist anymore, and I think that's where the problem is.

  4. Do I need a HomeGroup

I have never used it, If you are happy the way it is working then you do not need it. I have it hidden.

I don't need a home group or want that at all. I do use a workgroup for my P2P network.
It seems after a clean install of FCU I no longer can find the setting to name my workgroup, I think this is preventing my P2P from seeing this unit and it from seeing the rest of the network.
Anyone found where they moved this setting too???

On my system it is in the same place as it always was.

Select Start, then type Advanced system settings
    Press enter
    Select Computer name Tab
    Select Change.
You can change the Workgroup name here.

    Is this what you mean?
