Windows 10: Do I need all versions of my Windows Software Development Kit?

Discus and support Do I need all versions of my Windows Software Development Kit? in Windows 10 Installation and Upgrade to solve the problem; I saw another question on this, but it failed to actually answer the question.     Do I need all versions of my Windows Software Development Kit?


    I saw another question on this, but it failed to actually answer the question. So I'm asking again.


    I've got four Windows Software Development Kits listed in "Uninstall or Change Program". I had five, and removed the oldest. I use Visual Studio Community.


    What purpose does keeping the older versions of the SDKs serve?


    What reasons are there for *not* removing the old versions?

    Windows Software Development Kit

    Do I need all versions of my Windows Software Development Kit? I am in the Programs and Features dialog box in my Windows 10 Home Edition and I see the following versions of the kit:

    10.0.10586.15 (6/30/2016)

    10.0.10586.212 (8/26/2016)

    10.0.26624 (6/30/2016)

    Can I remove two of them? Perhaps it seems a silly question, but I do not like having things I do not need or use.

    Remove Windows Software Development Kit?


    The Windows Software Development Kit contains headers, libraries and tools, which can be used to create Apps for Windows. It is not part of the Windows operating system itself and it is not needed to run Windows.
