    Windows 10

    I went to defrag a slow pc running Windows 10. Went to properties of disc c: the system hard drive says it Need a optimization (50% fragmented) when I went to optimize it it sped through it all and nothing changed. All the others defragged. So I reset
    the computer to fa Tory state. It's still fragmented, and still will not defrag. What do I do or do I need to do anything.

    So leave it alone forever?

    Does Windows 10 automatically defrag it? If so, do I need to DISABLE W10 defrag?

    I checked Defrag in my W10, and it says it's defragging weekly automatically. Should I turn it OFF completely, or change it to monthly?

    I tried that on mine and it took less than 1 second. I do not believe it did anything. Turn it off. If you want to try do in manually.

    It's NOT defragging it unless Windows has it misidentified as a spinner. If you trigger it manually, it's ONLY doing TRIM, hence the quick execution.

    Never defrag an SSD, it would only damage the SSD thus shorten its life time.
    Trimming is however useful for SSD's, but not really necessary.

    I totally agree with you on this. As a matter of being cautious, I do not let Windows do anything automatically.

    What is that bottom listing, it says SSD, but called:

    Volume/926 etc....

    Why does it say C: is enabled to be defragged by W10 but not the other VOLUME listing which also says it's an SSD.. says "NEVER RUN"?

    Because it's a protected partition that the optimizer can't access.
