  1. Documents folder gone, now redirecting to SSD drive

Hi there! I'm trying to play a video game, but save files aren't working. After some research, I found that I need to access the usual Documents folder like you see when you hit the start button or on the left column using File Explorer. For some reason, there is no Documents folder anymore. It doesn't appear in File Explorer. If I hit the start button and select Documents from the left, I get sent to the default directory of an SSD I installed several years ago--and it does not have any Documents folder. Any idea what happened or how I can fix this?

    :)

  2. Redirected my Documents folder to root of a hard drive, can't revert

    Hello,

In an effort to save the space on my SSD, I started redirecting the "This PC" folders to equivalent spots on my Hard Drive. In the process, I accidentally redirected the Documents folder to the root of the hard drive. I am so far unable to revert this or
change it to the proper spot on that hard drive. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

    Documents Redirect Gone Wrong

    Greetings, I'm obviously new.

Background: I recently upgraded an existing custom built PC to a SSD and Windows 10. For a couple years, I've had two just two 500 HDDs; now I added a third drive, a 250GB SSD and installed W10 on that. Leaving #1 HDD for my Primary storage of photos, music, documets etc. and #2 HDD for a Backup copy. Had a hell of a time getting the SSD to format and then W10 wouldn't connect to the internet.

Everything was going well until I attempted to Redirect my Documents folder from the C: to my Primary (DDocuments folder gone, now redirecting to SSD drive :)... I followed the instructions and when I go to the Properties/Locations windows, I mistakenly hit OK and followed through with only D:\ in the target location block (ignorantly assuming that it would create D:\Documents; so I didn't type D:\Documents). Looking at my screenshot, I hit OK and accepted the change where instead of "C:\Users\dbcat\Downloads" it just said "D:"...when it was all said and done, my Documents folder from my C:\Users\dbcat\Documents is GONE, and there is no new "Documents" folder located at D:\

    1. Unable to hit Undo
    2. Attempted to right click D:\ and modify Location, but I get "The Folder Can't be Moved Here, Access is Denied" (screenshot two).
    3. I opened Word and saved a generic document, the default location was D:\ so that makes me think that the system thinks Documents is @ D:\, but frankly I'd like a subfolder named Documents.

Summary: I mistakenly redirected my Documents folder to the drive D:\ and now can't move it back. I've since successfully moved my Music, Download, and Pictures folders back and forth...just can't get the Documents folder to move or do anything.

So confused... Do I have to reinstall Windows?

    Thanks for the help,
    Max

Can't change documents folder location because "there is a folder in same location that can't be redirected"

Hello. I reinstalled Windows and want to redirect my Documents and Pictures folder to be in their own folder on my HDD instead of on my C drive in Properties >Location since my C drive is a smaller SSD. It worked fine for my music, videos, and downloads.
However, documents and pictures will not redirect to them. I get an error stating "Can't move the folder because there is a folder in the same location that can't be redirected. Access is denied. They are currently directed to my OneDrive folder in C drive.
I do not want them to be in my OneDrive. I want them on my HDD.

I followed the directions on this website and changed registry settings. I did it for both documents
and pictures, but it does not work. How can I redirect them to go to the folder on my HDD?
