Does a single file with too long pathname abort automatic File Histoy Backups?

File History backup stopped working after setting it up to run every 12 hours and observing that it did work for a few days.

FileHistory-Engine>File History backup log showed that there was a single file that had a too long pathname. The pathname was shortened to less than 255 characters and File History was manually invoked successfully a few times, each time after making a small change to a test file. Why is the user not notified when automatic backups fail?

    :)

  2. Unable to open a zip file with long Pathnames

Yes the details are that I am unable to open or use zip files with long pathnames because no matter how short I make the destination path it isn't short enough. I have tried the correction to long pathnames ie. with the registry: does nothing.

    • On the left pane, click on backup and select on under automatically back up my files.

    • Click on more option under on button.

    • Select every hour (default) under back up my files.

Does a single file with too long pathname abort automatic File Histoy Backups?

Cheap automatic backup for My Documents

It allows for file transfer resumes, so if the copy is stopped in the middle of copying a file, it will pick up where it left off, assuming the file hasn't changed. That is what the /ZB does.

The /MIR command will automatically delete files in the destination that have been deleted from the source.

It will only backup files that have changed since the last backup, or new files. Xcopy technically does this also with the /D switch, but robocopy just does it automatically.
