  1. Does anyone know how to disable UpdateNotificationMgr.exe UNP Task?

I've stumbled across this today for the first time. https://www.askvg.com/what-are-updat...in-windows-10/

The problem is that when I try to disable UNP \Microsoft\Windows\UNP I get The user account you are operating under does not have permission to disable this task.

Neither PSTools is working. When I try to execute PSTools using CMD as Admin I get Error establishing communication with PsExec service on.......:
The network path was not found.

In the past PSTools was working for me, but not any more. I do have Windows 10 Update Blocker. So I have the rest disabled. UNP was the first time I have spotted it running in the background briefly.

I'm pretty sure Windows 10 Updates will not be affected even if this task schedule was disabled. I've had Windows 10 updates disabled for the last 9 months since disabling them using an Update Blocker. But this is the first time I've stumbled across the UNP task schedule.

I tried SFC /Scannow now and get Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

Windows 10 has never allowed me to delete or disable a Task Schedule normally without using PSTools! If someone knows how to overcome this I'll be very grateful!

My Windows 10 version is 1903 (OS Build 18362.720).

    :)

    "UNP" in Program Files

I gave you the wrong info. UNP used to stand for Universal Notification Platform - a process manager to display adverts.

However, I just spotted that you're running 1909 and Microsoft's current use of UNP is now different.

Microsoft changed its use of UNP a while ago (I'm not sure when) and it now stands for Update Notification Pipeline related to files used by Windows 10 to improve Windows Update service components in your device, specifically to manage feature updates. You can read more about this change here, including how to manage their scheduled tasks.

    Hope this helps...

Yes, it was very helpful. On MS Community, it was confirmed that it has to do with MS updating/updates. So, I will leave well enough alone. Thank you

  4. Does anyone know how to disable UpdateNotificationMgr.exe UNP Task?

is the folder UNP a safe foldre to have in my system?

    Hello,

Looks like you are referring to the Universal Notification Platform or
UNP folder. This applies to computers on a domain, a good example is a work computer. Is your PC connected to a domain?

We suggest that you refer to this
    related thread
and check for Jefferson Ore's response. Make sure to follow the steps on the link that he has provided about creating a back up of your registry. Once done, you can proceed in disabling the UNP folder through the UNP Campaign
    Manager.

Let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.
