Windows 10: Does copying files check for errors?

Hi,

I've always wondered, does windows check if files are copied without errors?

For example, if I copy files to an external drive as a backup, does windows check if all bits and bytes were copied correctly? Old drives might have some broken sectors.

Some 3rd party file managers offer the option to automatically verify copied files with CRC32 or MD5,
but this takes a lot of time, especially if you backup a lot. So I wonder if it's worth it to use a 3rd party software and verify files, or if just copying with windows explorer from NTFS to NTFS is good enough.

You can't copy a folder, thats why it generates an exception (you are trying to copy a folder using a copy file function).
You probably need to list all the files inside that folder and copy one by one

File Copy Error in Windows 7

Hi,


I'm trying to copy files from my extrenal drive, but i keep getting an error (see screenshot). I have also tried using Teracopy, which gets the same error.


Has this happened to anyone before?

I'm running windows 7 btw. & i have used multiple USB ports on my system.
