Hey everyone! Just asking before I buy a headset but does getting a new microphone replace your old microphone driver? Like maybe your old microphone driver is broken and there is no way to fix it and you just get a new microphone and your old driver with any type of malware or old settings will be replaced with the new driver? Is that even possible? Please answer! Thank you for your time!

    :)

  2. Cannot get Microphone to Work

I got my new microphone to replace what I thought was a dead one that I had for years. Win 10 1903 with May update installed, but not June. I was running Realtek version 6.0.1.8648 without issues and then I tried my old mic. It did not work. I got to the part on configuring the mic and then I got this

Thinking that my old microphone just had it I decided to buy a new one which I did. I even installed the new version 6.0.8703.1 from Asus site and I get the same thing. I checked settings and I have the Microphone setting to on, but I do not see Bandicam in the listing. Could this be the issue? Bandicam shows the mic, went through settings all looks good there in Bandi.

When I was running 1709 I had no issues in the settings area where I could click on the Speech Recognition > Set up microphone, but at a loss here with the error.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Figured it out. One more "switch" to turn on and all is good

Does getting a new microphone replace old microphone driver?

    Microphone issues

    Hi Michael,

Here are the possible reasons why you're getting an error "The microphone did not pick anything up" when using it:

    • Incorrect settings (microphone is not set as default device)
    • Corrupted or outdated driver
    • Faulty device

For us to isolate the issue, we'd like to know the following:

    • Were there any changes made to your computer prior to this issue(e.g. Windows updates)?
    • Have you tried connecting other microphone to your computer?
    • Have you tried connecting the microphone to the other computer?

In the meantime, we suggest running the Recording Audio Troubleshooter to find and repair problems with recording sound. We also suggest checking if your microphone is set as your default recording device. For troubleshooting steps, please see
    Geethu B's on this
    link.

We're looking forward to your reply.
