  1. Does MSERT Microsoft Safety Scanner no longer work on Win XP?

Up till the end of April, I have been downloading and running MSERT.EXE weekly. This month it downloads but dies when executed.

The MSERT.LOG contains a truncated entry which does not contain the version of the software or date but only this cryptic error:

    Return code: 4 (0x4)

The last version which ran was:

Microsoft Safety Scanner v1.0, (build 1.291.2382.0)
    Started On Sat Apr 20 23:55:58 2019

The latest download which fails is Build 1.293.1446.0 created 5/12/2019 (32-bit).

My computer is an old HP Pavilion running Windows XP, Media Center Version, Service Pack 3, with an AMD cpu.

    :)
