Surface Book WiFi / Netgear Nighthawk AC2600 - no internet connection issue

Hello,

I have a Surface Book with the Marvell Avastar wifi driver version 15.68.9112.23. Until this weekend it was connecting to the Netgear Nighthawk ok; it would connect and then say Internet Not Available and I'd have to wait 30 seconds for the internet connection
to complete or run diagnostics so that wifi adapter would reset and then it would connect.

The Surface Book Ethernet connects fine across the gig-e network in the shop to the same router.

I had to reboot the router this weekend and can no longer connect via Wifi and either 2.4Ghz or 5.0Ghz mode. I have:

- uninstalling/reinstalling the adpater

- confirmed I'm on the latest driver version

- reset the entire network on the laptop

- rebooted the broadband modem

- rebooted the netgear router

- turned off WMM on the router

- the laptop wifi works via the wifi hotspot on my android phone.

- other wireless devices (android phone, alexa, ipad) all connect and work flawlessly with the Netgear router

The symptoms are:

- Wifi connects, receives its DHCP address and receives the DNS gateway address correctly

- Wifi indicates no Internet connection

- Pings to the router timeout!

- Pings to the DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 timeout

Can anyone suggest additional troubleshooting or provide a potential solution? i would greatly appreciate it!
