  2. Ssd and fast startup

    Hello Frost,

Fast startup doesn't inherently cause harm to SSDs.

However, there are a few considerations to keep in mind:

    1. Fast startup involves saving the current state of your system to the hard drive during shutdown, which could involve some additional write operations. While modern SSDs are designed to handle a large number of writes, frequent use of fast startup might contribute to wear over time.
    2. Fast startup can affect how updates are applied. Sometimes, updates require a full shutdown and restart to be fully installed. With fast startup enabled, these updates may not apply correctly unless a full restart is performed.
    3. Regularly restarting your laptop (instead of using fast startup) can help clear out temporary files and refresh system processes, potentially improving overall performance.

    • Disable Fast Startup: Consider disabling fast startup if you're concerned about SSD wear or if you encounter issues with updates not applying correctly.
    • Regular Restart: Schedule regular restarts to ensure your laptop's performance remains optimal and to allow updates to install correctly.
Keeping your SSD healthy involves a balance between usage patterns and regular maintenance, but fast startup itself isn't typically a major concern unless it's causing specific issues for your setup.

    Ssd and fast startup

    Hi Frost,

I'm Christine, I'll be happy to assist you.

Having Fast Startup enabled, it will increase the read/write count on your SSD which affect its lifespan, if your main goal is with the SSD longevity, it would be best to disable the Fast Startup, also its really minimal difference in the startup time when the Fast Start up is on or off.

    Thank you,

    Christine L
