  1. Does Windows 10 have a hotkey to mute sound in a window?

I have been wondering and googling for it this evening, it seems to me like a pretty useful QoL feature. But all I could find was the obvious system mute shortcut.

I make frequent use of the sound mixer, because often times I need to mute a window, but it's kind of a hassle to have to bring up the mixer window and manually mute the instance.

Is there something I've missed, or does Win10 not have a function like that? Is there a third party software that could do that?

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    Are custom hotkeys possible?

    sharpkeys

it also works with media keys, such as mute. idk about mute mic specifically, but it's possible.

are you sure Vent doesn't have a hotkey for it? like ctrl+shift+something? just assign that macro to a key in sharpkeys.
