Windows 10: Does Windows 10 randomly freezing you pc after you updated to the

Anniversary Update ?
Microsoft confirmed that the Anniversary Update will randomly freeze your pc
if you have the OS on ssd and programs on hdd
do you have that proplem ?
I didn't update yet so I want to khnow if it a common proplem ?
and yes my OS on my ssd and my games and data on my hdd .

Did you recently install a windows 8.1 update on it?

I suggest you have two basic options:
1. Use disk imaging now (everyone should do this routinely anyway.. strongly recommended here)
e.g. Macrium Reflect (free) + its boot medium + external storage
to make a complete set of recoverable images

Then try the upgrade and see, confident you can recover by roll back or restoring your Windows backup image.

2. If you have Pro (your specs are empty) you can defer the upgrade in Settings - for quite a long time.
Wait until, say, Nov. or Dec. before upgrading.

 

I was getting random freezes in Windows *and browsers * both on my old daily grinder/test mule in my specs that flamed out the mainboard last week with an SSD /HDD dual boot configuration.


It did not make any difference at all if I was on a web browser and or app and Windows OS all on the SSD or the HDD windows OS , or on the SSD tapping an app from the HDD which almost never happens.

I have my frequent fliers on the SSD also and no large games or anthing like Photoshop in the new daily grinder at all and its not a game box and is using the stock Core i5 Haswell Intel HD 4600 IGPU .


I have maybe 350 GB of pictures on an external storage drive and a media drive outside of this PC .


I tap files and media using the SSD OS off the other drives frequently but that never makes it freeze. I use the HDD OS infrequently for obvious reason's .........it's too slow *chuckle


Sometimes a clean install of an Insiders build on the SSD would make it happen less on the old PC if it was getting too frequent accompanied by deteriorating performance and stability which could possibly be at least partly attributed to a deteriorating AM3 main board that is flamed out now and occasionally put out some SATA controller / chipset errors for a year or two before it died or no ?


Factory new 5 days here PC daily grinder /test mule in my specs is also a dual boot 14393,14905 HDD /SSD configuration now.


No random freezes outside of infrequently in Chrome or anytime in Edge here which can happen on Chrome with maybe 10 or more tabs open and maybe multi tasking or in Edge just because it's Edge even with 2 tabs open and nothing else happening *really


Two PC's both are 8 GB ram and an aging Phenom II x6 and mainboard & newer HDD /SSD vs a new Intel Core i5 HDD/SSD with the SSD out of the old one that died re formatted to GPT/NTFS and a clean install of 14905 from a saved ESD .


net result so far :
No random freezing on this new daily grinder PC out of a browser and infrequently in Chrome and anytime in Edge , no declining OS stability or performance decline trends so far like I saw on the old PC before a clean test build install was needed usually after one to three WU new test build (EZ dirty) installs .


Conclusion here :

Random freezing in Chrome ( the memory hog ) is far less frequent on the new PC and so far nothing is freezing out of a web browser unlike before .

I think at least here MS blaming an SDD/HHD working together on windows 10 14393 is baloney , random freezing here behaves the same way on 14393 and 14905 on metal only or SSD only or SSD/HDD working together *chuckle
