Windows 10: does windows 10 still force users to use a new password

Microsoft requires a minimum password security for Hotmail, outlook.com, etc.. passwords because they are concerned about the security of their online email system. Yahoo, Gmail, and others also have similar policies. Weak passwords can allow their system to be used as a spam source if they are easily guessed, so yes... Microsoft has a legitimate reason to require this for email accounts.

A Microsoft account does not need to be a Microsoft Email account though, it can be linked to any email account and you can set the password policy in the MSA options.

Furthermore, you aren't required to use an MSA account at all to log into Windows, as you can just as easily use a local account. So no, Microsoft has *never* required you to use any kind of password policy.

For someone who keeps complaining that people are questioning your experience and knowledge, you're showing a remarkable lack of it in your knowledge of how MSA accounts work, so maybe you should actually listen to what people are telling you.

 

The only time I have seen this happen is when your Outlook/Hotmail/Live Account has been breached or M$ suspect a Breach , Look in your Sent Folder and see if you have 200-300 emails sent on one day to ALL your Contacts, it is a good sign someone got in . M$ "watches" accounts with more than 300 "sends" a day ( or used too) , if that limit is exceeded they often block the Account until you prove it is you using the Account , they may also require a PW Change and that you Change the Security Questions at that point too.

The Fact that with Win10 now can now use MSA to log yu onto your computer , not just for your Email Program I think may have confused this Issue , with what is actually going on.
