Windows 10: Doesn't have a valid IP configuration

No what I mean is that when this error whatever it is happens, I cannot get to the modem login page, the default gateway doesn't work nor does it work by typing in my preferred ipv4 ip address.

Um huh I can bet ya that you earlier suggested me to turn off ipv6 and now you are telling me to turn it back on..

 

I'm not on WiFi, I'm using a cable. *Smile

 

Then update your cable drivers.

 

Tried that and says both are up to date though the pci one does however only have compatibility with XP and 7 according to the TP-Link site..

 

I'm only telling you to turn it back on on the client, so that maybe you can communicate with the router and turn it off at the source.

Is the router/modem supplied by your Internet Provider? Have you tried calling them about the issue?

 

Oh okay, right hm well shall try it now.

And yes it is supplied by my ISP and no I haven't yet called them about this issue, thought I would first give it a go myself though I get a feeling that the modem isn't the problem here, it's more my computer.

When this happens I still have access through the phones and stuff.

 

But they should know how to configure the computer to work with the modem. Key word, should, depending on which person you get on the other end of the phone.

 

Yes agreed but I did study Computer Science for two years so I should also know how to solve it.

 

It all comes down to some settings in a router. What type of TP router do you have?
It would be probably best, to disable DHCP on your computer and set up IPv4 manually.
Reserve one IP in a router for you computer only and if possible, set DHCP lease to forever.

 

Um uh sorry for not being clear enough, the router is a Cisco EPC3825 and I mentioned that I had a network card in a pci slot that is from TP.

 

Well, you can not disable DHCP, but at least try assign a static IP to your computer in a router.
Look in the manual on the page 32, this should at least make your computer use the same IP.
Set a lease to 0, this should keep your connection up and running for a day, then, who knows.

The problem free solution would be to disable DHCP on the router and set up IP manually on all devices.
But that would be somewhat uncomfortable. Do not forget to back up settings before changing anything.
