Windows 10: DOLBY ATMOS - ERROR - Can't use feature

Hello,


I'm using a windows 10 PC as a media centre which is fully up to date. I have an ongoing issue with the integration of Dolby Atmos. When I select "Dolby access for home theatre" it simply doesn't activate. It is visible, ie not greyed out; but just can't be selected. And trying to activate it via sound configuration in the spatial sound menu results in the following error.....


"Spatial sound isn't working"

"Something went wrong while trying to turn on spatial sound".


Dolby Atmos doesn't seem to appear in device manager either.


And here's the kicker > When I plug my laptop in replacing the PC It works just fine! Full amazing Atmos!


This is indicative that my Samsung K850 system and the media used is set up correctly and compatible.


Additionally.... 6 months ago I rebuilt this computer with a new Motherboard, GPU and SSD; and with a fresh windows install. So the system is now essentially an entirely different computer. Yet Atmos didn't work before the upgrade, and it doesn't work now. I find it hard to believe that the cause could be something associated with the CPU, power supply or memory.


It also seems that this issue is not isolated, it has been reported many times online in many forums. But as far as I can tell nobody is doing anything to fix it. There was a suggestion that some microphones/headsets may have something to do with it, but even when my Logitech G533 is completely disabled and or uninstalled the issue still exists.

Yet, I can select ATMOS for headphones (which I purchased) while my main speaker audio output is selected..... !?


But when The Logitech headset is selected, I can't select ATMOS for headphones..... !?


I'm at wits end... I have seriously tried every conceivable method I can find online to troubleshoot and nothing works. I hope Microsoft and or Dolby can gain some of my computer files, error dumps or something to pinpoint what the actual issue is. I can't afford to buy an entirely new computer to be able to enjoy ATMOS, and I don't think I should have to.


Maybe something to do with permissions? I used the trial until it expired, then purchased it. User registry permissions issue?

Dolby Atmos

We would like to confirm if you have check if you Dolby Atmos can be dectect by your computer?

We suggest that you check if its being detected by following these steps:

• At the bottom right side of your screen, where the Time and date can also be located, look for the
  sound icon.
• Right click on the sound icon, a smaill window will pop up with the Sound
  menus.
• Click on the Playback Devices.
• The Sound window will appear with the Playback
  tab.
• Look for Dolby Atmos to make sure that it is properly installed.

If its not on the list in Playback Devices, kindly check if its listed in Device Manager by:

• From the Start menu, type in Device Manager, then
  Enter.
• Then click the Sound, video and game controllers driver.
• Look for Dolby Atmos, then right click on it, then click
  Unintall.
• Once done, remove your Dolby Atmos device and restart you computer.
  

After your computer has restarted and your are in the Desktop screen of your computer, connect your Dolby Atmos device. It should automatically be installed in your computer by giving you prompts. Once successfully installed, kindly check if it is detected
now by you computer in Playback Devices.

I checked this line:

5. Look for Dolby Atmos to make sure that it is properly installed.

and i have list with my two audio cards :

1. onboard - Realtek High Definition audio

and

2. dedicated Asus xonar DG audio device.

When selecting option 1. i have spatial sound dolby atmos option, but when selecting option 2, i have listed only "none" under spatial sound.

I can confirm that i had spatial sound on previous win10 build

For this part:

• From the Start menu, type in Device Manager, then Enter.
• Then click the Sound, video and game controllers driver.
• Look for Dolby Atmos, then right click on it, then click Unintall.
• Once done, remove your Dolby Atmos device and restart you computer.

i dont have dolby atmos under sound, video and game controllers
