Windows 10: Dolby Digital Plus?

What is this? I see it replaced my "enhancements" tab and got rid of my "speaker fill", so now my sound is worse than ever. All it has in the Dolby tab is "On/Off"... that's it.

Help?

For Dolby Digital sound to play you need to listen through a Headset plus the audio stream of the video needs to have been encoded in Dolby Digital. When playing a video on the 701 there will be the Dolby Digital button on screen for you to tap to activate
Dolby, providing Dolby is available in the video.

Netflix - Dolby Digital - Windows 10 10532 build - using an Asus Xonar Essence STX card

I have done these steps over and over. The card is working via SPDIF with Dolby Digital in all other audio except Edge/Explorer. The Netflix app has sound, but not Dolby. My receiver is being fed PCM, not Dolby Digital. Until the update, I had Dolby
from Netflix and Amazon Prime.

In the past, early Windows builds were not outputting Dolby and a work-around from UNI provided Dolby. Asus finally provided a Windows 10 64 bit driver and I had Dolby. After the 10532 update, Dolby went away; just PCM.

I am wondering if allowing this computer to be exposed to Insider updates is my problem. If I abandon Insider, is there a stable, Dolby Digital build for Windows 10 Pro 64bit?

Alright... But, how do I use it?

I can't use 5.1 Surround sound anymore since the Win 10 upgrade, and everything is up to date. The Dolby option just has "On/Off", nothing to enable 5.1 sound.

 

Do you have a 5.1 speaker setup?

Usually Dolby enhancement software just has an on/off button and a settings buttons in the taskbar's icon when double clicked to fine tune other audio settings.

 

I use a headset, like a gaming headset. I'm pretty sure I used 5.1 sound back in Win 7. But, I had "speaker fill" and "enhancements" in Realtek. That's what I used to make my audio not sound like it's coming out of a tiny box. The Dolby is set to "On"... but I can't find any options to tweak anything whatsoever.

 

You can't use 5.1 sound as the decoder would require hardware in the form of 5.1 speakers in order for the it to work properly.

I think you're getting confused with Virtual Surround which is what the Dolby Digital software can emulate to make it seem like you're getting a 5.1 sound stage out of 2 speakers.

 

But... How do I use my speaker fill/Dolby?

I'm forever listening to a muffled box now.
