Double backup, origin of 2nd unkown.

So I'm running win 10 and have File History set up on an external drive because everybody needs a backup. What I don't need is two.
I'm reasonably computer savvy, so I tried figuring it out, did some googling, but nothing has led me to a solution.

    The problem is this:
File History folder is exactly where I want it to be, doing exactly what I want it to do.
There's a second folder on the same drive titled "backup USERDATA oct 6 2018". I have no idea why I would have set up a second backup in the first place. All of the dates on the files are *extremely* incorrect, going as far as saying the modified date is earlier than the created date. It is, however, up to date w recent files.

I figured it might be a system restore kind of folder, but when I go to the control panel settings for 'Backup and Restore (windows 7)' and that seems to be pretty clear there is no backup of such a kind.

I'm lost and would just really to be able to remove 415GB of data from a very crowded drive. Though I'm scared to delete it in case it *is* somehow linked to File History (I know it isn't, and yet...) because there's older versions of files in file history i might need later and it's too much to copy elsewhere.

    :)

    Hi

My name is Lester and hopefully, this helps answer your question.

Better if we can create a backup of that files on external drive before deleting the files, usually 2 backup only appears if your OEM (Manufacturer) setup a backup recovery drive on the PC.

We have backup and restore on settings and other one is setup by the manufacturer which is hidden on the drive and it takes a lot of space, moreover it is used to recover the PC whenever it got crashed or experience BSOD (Bluescreen of death).

    Hi! Thanks for responding!

My version of windows was not installed by a manufacturer but by me since I built this computer from scratch so I'm pretty sure that's not the case. It also only showed up somewhere in the last year and the computer has been in use longer than that. It's also
going to an external drive, I'm pretty sure that wouldn't just happen like that?

I should probably point out that it's not a backup of my entire computer (so not a system restore), but the same folders that I make FileHistory back up. Documents, Pictures, etc.

So! It's been solved with help from tech support and I figured I should update for everyone who migh trun into something similar. Turns out that the thing called File History in the backup settings, and the one in the advanced settings, are not the same
    backup service.

So I unknowingly had 2 different backup services going while thinking they were the same thing because they share a name.
