Windows 10: Downgrade from 10 to 7

That didn't work for my Acer

The only way I can think of how to do it would be to change the Windows 7 installer to a Windows 8 or 10 installer and use that to install Windows 7. I don't even know if that is possible.

On my Acer they somehow blacklisted Windows 7 from installing, If you rolled back the BIOS installed 7 you could then upgrade the BIOS and run 7

EDIT: I searched the Acer Forums and could not find the thread that revealed the cause of not being able to downgrade, That thread would be about 2 or 3 years old now I think.

I am in the same boat. I have secure boot turned off. I have a HP Pavilion desktop.

I can boot the windows 7 dvd but the keyboard and mouse die and I can't select any options.

And before we get into the "why not just use win 8.1/10?" We have legacy software that will only run on windows 7 or older and the drivers and printers will not run on anything higher then windows 7.

If I could just wipe the hard drive that might work, but I am afraid that it's a bios issue as well a windows 10 issue

If you had taken an image before upgrade simply restore the image.

I still can't understand why these sorts of questions continually appear -- we've told people AD NAUSEAM to backup their systems before doing any upgrades -- with programs like Free Macrium it's not complicated --yet people STILL don't do it and we get these sorts of questions.

Honestly for about 30 mins work why DON'T people LISTEN.

(I suppose it's like something I read in a UK newspaper today --in spite of all sorts of messages and warnings people still get scammed by postal letters looking "official" and asking for money which is duly paid without people even checking on the validity of the request -- a really low tech scam which has been around for YEARS and YEARS and people still get conned).

Your assuming said PC originally came with Windows 7 on it? It's a bit tricky making an image of an OS that was never installed to begin with wouldn't you say?
The OP clearly asked " Do you know how to downgrade a W10 (as well as 8.1) pre-installed computer to Windows 7 ?"

 

What is the make and full model number of the computer?

 

Do you have your keyboard and mouse plugged into a USB 3 port? If so, try plugging them into a USB 2 port. Windows 7 does not have the drivers to read USB 3. At least the install media does not.

 

These options are kind of darken... Not to change them. Already tried...
Seems like some manufacturers did everything not to downgrade.
