    Hi

When I tried to install the April 2018 Update, I had an issue with my computer getting the BSOD shortly after booting up, so I fell back to the previous version of Windows. Since then, I wanted to try and update my computer again, but it won't show up in Windows Update. In the installed update history, it says that it was installed, but I am still on version 1709. Any tips on what I should do?

    Thanks!

    :)

Happen issues after uprading Windows 10 April 2018 Update (1803)

    Hi Admin,

After upgrading Windows 10 through April 2018 Update (1803) from Fall Creator (1709) version, my laptop have had 3 issues as follows:

    • The login screen is so lagging when I connect with Microsoft Account. This issue does not happen with Fall Creator (1709) version.
    • After logging in Windows, Windows Defender Security Center is slow in getting AntiVirus and Firewall information.
    • The laptop doesn't shut down when I press shutdown button. Power light is on although the screen is off.

    More information:

    • Laptop HP Envy 13 ad160. Windows 10 Home x64 have been installed with HP OEM.
    • ESET NOD AntiVirus the latest build 11.1.54.0.

Please help me review and answer my questions!

    Thanks,

    Will

Services missing after applying April 2018 Update (1803) to Windows 10

Multiple customers have reached out to me because a Windows Service that I have made is missing after applying April 2018 Update (1803) to Windows 10.

Some customers have also reported that other services are missing, like Cisco VPN client.

I’m able to repro using the following:

    • Install Windows 10 Pro x64 version 1709 (Fall Creators Update) from MSDN.
    • Run the installer for my service, and verify that it’s in the service-list.

I have also tried to manually create the service using SC / InstallUtil, with the same outcome.
    • Restart the machine.
    • (Re-)validate that the service exists, and that it works as intended.
    • Update the machine with the newest updates, including 1803 (April 2018 Update).
    • Restart the machine as part of the update.
Result: The application-files still exist, however, the service is no longer registered.

Running the installer again, or re-creating the service manually using SC/InstallUtil works.

Have Microsoft put new rules in place for services or what’s happening?

The service itself is a very basic service with a valid digital signature.

It is installed in the users local AppData-folder (%localappdata%).

The following updates are applied in step 5:

    • Feature update to Windows 10, version 1803
    • Security update for Adobe Flash Player: June 7, 2018 [KB 4287903]
    • Definition Update for Windows Defender Antivirus [KB 2267602]
    • Update for Windows Defender antimalware platform [KB 4052623]
    • Definition Update for Windows Defender Antivirus [KB 2267602]
    • Remove specific prevalent malware with Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool [KB 890830]
