Windows 10: Download to Windows Photos

I loved Windows Photo Gallery. Of course, it was replaced automatically with Windows Photos, which I detest. And although I've been forced using it for quite some time, I still cannot get the system to just make a downloaded photo a part of Photos.


I just downloaded a pic from an email, and saved it to my desktop. That way at least I can find it. Then I opened Photos. Sometimes this is enough to make the pic appear in Photos. Not this time. I tried changing the name, I tried restarting my laptop. I couldn't get it to appear.


But when I double-click the pic on my desktop, it opens with a square box in the upper left-hand corner which says "See All Photos", with the Photos logo. When I click on that it takes me into Photos, but the new picture isn't there. However, an arrow suddenly appeared to the right side of the picture the next time I opened it on the desktop, and when I clicked that, there was a pic from Photos! No association I can see, just a random pic. And the next time I opened it, and clicked on that arrow, there was the other random pic, another arrow, and another random pic. It's building a Photos slide show for no apparent reason, and with no apparent association to the other pictures. Including date.


And it's still not in Photos.


This makes no sense to me. Plus, there is no menu down the left hand side of the app, like Photo Gallery had, where you can click on "pictures", or "videos", or both, and see all of them in the Gallery or anywhere on the computer. And if I try to click and hold the new picture on the desktop and drag it to Photos, a red circle with a slash through it appears. It won't drop the pic into the app.


Talk about a non-intuitive, clumsy, backwards way to save pictures!!! Does Microsoft have a special team that researches apps that are getting too simple to use so they can get rid of them and make the replacement harder? Making things tougher and tougher to use can't be just accidentally happening.

Downloading photos in Windows 10

Downloading from Panasonic digital camera.

I have followed the steps but "Import/Export photos doesn't appear in the dropdown list. Since this is the first time I am downloading into this computer with Windows 10 it was suggested that I need to load new drivers but I can't seem to find them.

I suggest you to run the Windows Store Apps troubleshooter by following the steps provided below:

• Type “Troubleshooting” in search box and press Enter.
• Click on View all on top left pane.
• Select “Windows Store Apps” from the list and follow the prompts for troubleshooting.

Also, suggest you to check if there are any updates available for the Photos App and install the same and check for status.

How to get rid of raw file support in windows photo viewer?




I have downloaded this, and it did not work; photo viewer is not in the list of programs in Open With or Default App. I used option 2 step 3, followed by step 5 to 9.
