Windows 10: Downloaded Windows 10 several times, but installation fails.

I have been working on this for a while. Actually, getting to this point is progress from where I started. My computer is an Acer Laptop with a 1 tb hard drive and 8 gigs of ram. I recently had the hard drive replaced, and after this was done, I found I had several things which no longer worked. I have no sound from the built in speakers. If I connect the computer to a TV using HDMI, or plug in external speakers, I get sound. Also, the touch screen does not work, the mouse pad does not work, and if I put the computer to sleep, it wakes up after a few seconds. I have checked many things, including services and device manager, to see if every thing which should be turned on is turned on.


I have been advised to " repair" the computer by doing a fresh download of Windows !0. I have done this several times, and at the end, a box pops up which says " installation failed" Can any one tell me why the installation fails? Or anything else I might try to fix this computer?

Windows Updates failed to instal

I just did step one and they have just all installed.... thank you so much.... it was quite frustrating having that update window pop up every 5 minutes and failing to instal every time

Repeated windows 10 downloads failed.

Windows 10 download failed according to the updates list. Windows 10 downloads failed three times yesterday the 28th and four times today.

Updates list Windows 10 failed to download. I followed the suggested links to find out why, to no avail.

80240020 is the error code.
