Windows 10: downloads met with "contained a virus---deleted"

Discus and support downloads met with "contained a virus---deleted" in Windows 10 BSOD Crashes and Debugging to solve the problem; I think this is an older problem, but somehow I am just noticing it.     downloads met with "contained a virus---deleted"


    I think this is an older problem, but somehow I am just noticing it. Anytime I try to download, save, save as, etc something from an email, the info comes back with "...…… contained a virus and was deleted". Super frustrating especially when I know these are safe files!!!! Help?

    Hi Greg,

    I've tried installing the items you suggested and once again couldn't due to it being "a virus". I can't even download/install the removal tool or update Windows 10. This is my personal computer and I've used it only for school, I haven't downloaded anything
    abnormal. My confusion is "why now?" I've had this computer for a year and a half.

    I've tried to delete the McAfee WebAdvisor with no such luck. I need the removal tool, which whatever is causing my computer to reject the installation, is denying the download.

    I do appreciate your help though!

    Unable to delete a folder - Invalid folder name


    Suggestion:
    1. Run chkdsk x: /r to make sure that there's no HD corruption.
      x: is the drive containing the folder you want to delete.
    2. Try to delete the folder again. If still does not work, go to step 3.
    3. Download: Download - Linux Mint and create a bootable USB using: Rufus - Create bootable USB
    4. Boot up with Linux Mint and try to delete the folder again.
      NOTE: Unlike WinPE. Linux does not have any Windows permission imposed to it so it is easier to delete.
