DPC Latency Issues? APCI Driver for NT

    Hello,

I'm working on trouble shooting an audio interface on my laptop.

.OS Name Microsoft Windows 10 Home

    Version 10.0.18362 Build 18362

    Other OS Description Not Available

    OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation

    System Manufacturer HP

System Model OMEN by HP Laptop 15-dc0xxx

    System Type x64-based PC

    Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8750H CPU @ 2.20GHz, 2208 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 12 Logical Processor(s)

    BIOS Version/Date AMI F.09, 6/11/2019

Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 32.0 GB

I've been having a lot of audio drop outs\disconnections. I've tried a lot of the usual troubleshooting (adjusted power save settings,,updating firmware/ drivers.) The manufacturer of the interface suggested I'm having DPC Latency issues. However they told me to contact microsoft tech support. i tried and they said there services were down temporarily DPC Latency Issues? APCI Driver for NT :p

I ran a Latency monitor and generated this report (listed below). Anyone know where i go from here on this one

Thank you in advanced DPC Latency Issues? APCI Driver for NT :D

    CONCLUSION

    _________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Your system appears to be having trouble handling real-time audio and other tasks. You are likely to experience buffer underruns appearing as drop outs, clicks or pops. One or more DPC routines that belong to a driver running in your system appear to be executing for too long. Also one or more ISR routines that belong to a driver running in your system appear to be executing for too long. One problem may be related to power management, disable CPU throttling settings in Control Panel and BIOS setup. Check for BIOS updates.

LatencyMon has been analyzing your system for 0:21:27 (h:mm:ss) on all processors.

    CPU SPEED

    _________________________________________________________________________________________________________

    Reported CPU speed: 2208 MHz

Note: reported execution times may be calculated based on a fixed reported CPU speed. Disable variable speed settings like Intel Speed Step and AMD Cool N Quiet in the BIOS setup for more accurate results.

WARNING: the CPU speed that was measured is only a fraction of the CPU speed reported. Your CPUs may be throttled back due to variable speed settings and thermal issues. It is suggested that you run a utility which reports your actual CPU frequency and temperature.

MEASURED INTERRUPT TO USER PROCESS LATENCIES

    _________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The interrupt to process latency reflects the measured interval that a usermode process needed to respond to a hardware request from the moment the interrupt service routine started execution. This includes the scheduling and execution of a DPC routine, the signaling of an event and the waking up of a usermode thread from an idle wait state in response to that event.

Highest measured interrupt to process latency (µs): 4689.70

Average measured interrupt to process latency (µs): 7.332006

Highest measured interrupt to DPC latency (µs): 4668.90

Average measured interrupt to DPC latency (µs): 3.827375

    _________________________________________________________________________________________________________

    REPORTED ISRs

    _________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Interrupt service routines are routines installed by the OS and device drivers that execute in response to a hardware interrupt signal.

    _________________________________________________________________________________________________________

DPC routines are part of the interrupt servicing dispatch mechanism and disable the possibility for a process to utilize the CPU while it is interrupted until the DPC has finished execution.

    REPORTED HARD PAGEFAULTS

    _________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Hard pagefaults are events that get triggered by making use of virtual memory that is not resident in RAM but backed by a memory mapped file on disk. The process of resolving the hard pagefault requires reading in the memory from disk while the process is interrupted and blocked from execution.

NOTE: some processes were hit by hard pagefaults. If these were programs producing audio, they are likely to interrupt the audio stream resulting in dropouts, clicks and pops. Check the Processes tab to see which programs were hit.

Process with highest pagefault count: aswidsagent.exe

Total number of hard pagefaults 9782

Hard pagefault count of hardest hit process: 5789

    Number of processes hit: 55

  3. High DPC latency

I use my Dell XPS for recording and live playback but the system suffers from high DPC latency caused by ACPI driver.

I removed Dell audio drivers and installed those from RealTek with no avail. Latency is an issue because I need this computer for live recording. Please your advice.

    Sound Latency Issues

I have recently run into sound latency issues and think recent updates have caused this as I've successfully used Ableton for 2+ years with no sound crackling, dropouts or popping. I just restored Windows and its still happening. Ran latencymon and get the
feedback that issue is storport.sys. Any ideas how to fix? Latencymon info:
