Can't really show this in screen shots so I'll explain how to recreate it. It does the same thing on all my computers. 1 Open some apps or programs2 Open a photo in the Microsoft Photo app3 Drag the image from the photo app click and hold down the mouse button while moving it like you're dragging an iconWhen I do this all of my apps that are open disappear. alt-tab does not show them. If I open up the task manager it shows the apps running as background processes but there's no way to get them back.1, firefox, chrome and word all open2 open image, drag from inside the image, see mouse lo

    :)

  2. Photos app hogging resources in background

Ian, this suggestion was posted on my other thread:

We understand that not all of users are using the Photos app on Windows 10, if not very often. If you don't want this app to be running on background when not in use, there is a way you can turn this
off. Kindly follow the steps provided below:

    • In Cortana, type Privacy Settings
      and press Enter.
    • Look for Background apps.
    • Look for Photos in the list.
    • Flip the switch to Off.
    • Restart your computer.

After you restart your computer, you can check if the Photos app is still running in background. You can use these steps to turn off any running background applications as it is not limited to Photos
app alone. In this way, you can conserve a lot of power and process allowance.

I just followed these instructions, and now have to wait to see if it works. I'm hoping it solves your problem, too!

In general, I’m gonna narrow it down, does your photos app see the photos in any folder in app data, yes I’ll see the folder apart of folders list but the pictures inside will not show In the collection. And again I say opening them will work it’s with it he app adding them to the collection. Check my previous post with attachments.

    Photos app not reading photos

Yes I think it’s a insiders preview bug, this thread can be moved to windows insiders. @Edwin stated it works on normal builds but not in the latest insider build. thanks for the reply, glad it works on regular builds.
