drive issues on new computer preventing computer from upating anything

I purchased my computer 7 months ago, and just in the last couple of days, I logged in and was unable to launch several games with an error that was popping up saying something about he driver not being found. I updated everything on my computer from storage controller driver to graphics card and then realized that Windows 10 was not able to update to 1909. Ive been trying for a good 48 hours now to get Windows to update in every way I can. I've even "factory reset" my computer, which didn't actually work at all, not a single thing changed after that. Then today, I woke up to my computer being stuck in a repairing drive C boot loop which I was able to get out of by starting up in safe mode. I restarted my computer from there and then went to my storage settings and found the following message under Local Storage: "An administrator has disabled the Storage Service on this system"

    ????

I'm so confused. I haven't changed a single thing about my computer aside from uninstalling some hefty games that I haven't been playing.

    :)

    Thank you!

    Optical Drive Issue

    Hello Anak –

Appreciate your detailed return. Your added steps really helped.

Assuming I did the steps correctly, this is where I am now.

Screenshot 12 shows my CD Disc shortcut on my desktop.
Screenshot 10 shows the CD Drive shortcut listed in the “Send to” listing.
Screenshot 11 shows the “Send to” listing after the steps were taken, but the CD drive name is not listed.

So, it appears the steps did not work for me. And, I did try the steps, “If it still won’t do ……” and still no luck.

    What do you think?

    JerryA

    W7 Hard drive partition issue

to get rid of that 100 meg windows partition that setup creates for you on a new install on a blank hdd:

    - press shift+f10 when on the partition management screen in setup <-- this opens a command prompt
    - diskpart <-- start the windows command line partition management tool
    - list disk <--- list the installed hdds in this computer for the next step
    - select disk 0 <- might have to replace 0 with the number of the correct disk
    - clean <-- this will erase all data on the disk you selected one step up- dont use the wrong disk!
    - create partition primary <- creates a primary partition taking up all space on the drive, adjust the command if necessary
    - exit, exit to exit diskpart and the command prompt
    - click refresh in partition manager and select your newly created partition and install to that
