Windows 10: Driver not updating

So I downloaded adobe illustrator's new version today and it told me that I need to upgrade my graphics card. It was really old driver that I hadn't had a problem with. Anyways, I downloaded the correct one from the manufacturer ( I used intels tool)

So the old version is like version 10.18.10.4276 and the new version is 15.33.39.64.4276

So I install it, and it seems to go ok, no problems. I restart it and everything is working but It still says the old version (10.18.10.4276) is installed (using intel's tool) and adobe illustrator still tells me it's outdated. I've tried 3 times.

Really would like to update to take advantage of adobe illustrator's new GPU features.

hi thanks for reply, i think you didnt followed the loop of reply.

the bluetooth issue is kind of resolved after system restore.

the issue is with airplane mode turning on buy itself as in the screenshot i pasted before.

but not on actually it is just shows the tile as selected.

when we re press then it happens to turn off all.

may be this thread title is confusing you can start this impact issue of fixing bluetooth issue as a seperate quetion.

 

BTW it's Intel(R) HD Graphics 2500

 

Hi, I'm wondering if it's something to do with the way Win 10 handles driver updates.
As you may know, any driver (newer or older) - different to what Win 10 deems 'correct' will be replaced via Windows update.

In another thread I noted someone had thought they had installed one driver, but found a different one installed, which sounds rather similar. Lurking is a nasty thought that I suppose MS could actually 'block' installation of 'wrong' drivers... but I've not heard that.. it would be a logical extension of the way Win 10 driver update works, so consider that mere surmise.

Or, on restart, maybe Win 10 now checks its drivers and replaces any that are 'wrong' - again.. mere surmise.

You can turn off driver update altogether (not really a good idea- but for test purposes...)

or block a particular update

I suggest using this and retrying the driver update. This time uninstall the old driver first.

So, do you think it's ok to uninstall the old videocard driver. Sounds like a stupid question but that won't cause any problems? And then update to the new version

 

Hi, first look at it this way:
The video card driver isn't loaded in Safe Mode (the display quality is different in Safe Mode).
You can even do the whole thing in safe mode.. albeit note the comment on PhysX:

Third, if you end up without a driver, one will be installed when you reboot.

Based on that last article, it seems your best bet.

I would strongly suggest, however, before attempting repairs, you use disk imaging to make a secure copy of your existing disk/partition.
Either Macrium Reflect Free- more technical and more complex interface, lacks incremental imaging, or Aomei Backupper (free) - which I use. Disk imaging is an essential way to protect your system so you can restore it to a functional state in a defined time, and make a full backup. And after your first image, update it regularly.

I wouldn't have normally expected you to have the problem you're reporting.. but hey, we're in the somewhat uncharted waters of a new build, and a new MS paradigm.
