  1. Driver_Power_State_Failure BSOD

So ive spend multiple hours a night the last week or so trying to resolve this problem. The BSOD is a repeatable one for me, as far as i know ive not had and random ones, only crashes due to the repeatable offense. When i play a game, if i alt tab out of it to do other things i get a DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE BSOD if im tabbed for more than a few moments. Occasionally the crash happens while i am tabbed, but more often it occurs when i try to return to the game. The computer locks up, sounds goes on a mini loop where its stuck as well, and after about... 1-3 minutes it cuts away to the BSOD itself. Ive tried updating all my devices' drivers in the device manage one at a time, handpicking "more stable ones" (with Nvidia), reinstating the factory drivers from the disc, viewing the dump files with whocrashed (just says the analysis since its the free version), looked up multiple iterations of the crash through google for answers and nothing has fixed the problem. Ive had the computer less than 30 days, new from sager. Id like to have this machine work properly. Assuming it is in fact a driver, ive been struggling to figure out what it is for or where it is.

Ps: Of interesting note, I have managed to work around the issue in general by A)not alt tabbing(a bit irritating) and B)Playing the games in Full Windowed, in which case alt tabbing doesnt cause a crash.

That said, Id like the computer to run optimally, rather than force myself to step around eggshells, waiting for things to get worse.Attachment 49242

A BSOD greeted me when I turned it on this morning, with DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE. Although restarting made it work again, this is still rather worrying.

    Hi TonsOfFun121,

    Welcome to the 10forums.

Please uninstall everything of Nvidia using Display Driver Uninstaller and install new drivers from your manufacturer. Be sure the clean install box is checked and only install the Graphics driver and the PhysX driver.

    Driver_Power_State_Failure BSOD

I suggest you run the dm log collector again, upload the zip and give some description of what happened and what you were doing *Smile

  9. all right heres the new zip. i tested by opening mechwarrior online and then alt tabbing. let it sit a few minutes then tried to return to MWO sand it locked on a black screen, i was unable to move my mouse or interact with anything. the MWO music was playing, and after about 2 minutes the sound locked up, and about 30 seconds later the computer went to BSOD. i assume a driver power state failure as per the usual, but ill admit i didnt actually read it to be certain. its dump file should be in the new zip.

Check Sager for updates for the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver.
    Driver Reference Table - iaStorA.sys
If there are no updates, check if disabling its service helps
    Search
Code: services.msc[/quote] Search in services: Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology
Right click the service > properties.
For the startup type choose disabled.
There is nothing more to do to disable a service.

  11. all right attempted both fixes and still crashed both times i tested it. i made certain to check the BSODs and they were both driver power state failures. =/

    Driver_Power_State_Failure BSOD

    Some drivers are just incompatible.
I suggest you check Cyberlink for software updates and check Sager for audio driver updates.
Also this driver needs updating, get it also from Sager

  14. So the incompatibility you mentioned.. do you mean it's possible there may actually be no way to fix it? Also I'll try what you said tonight when I get off work and see if it helps.

I doubt older drivers will work.
Until new versions are released, I don't think I can think of a way to solve it.
