  1. drivers for sound

So im gonna put this out here since I'll probably fix it on my own because I can do that. I know how to deal with drivers, but this is ****. My computer did a maintenance update last night that caused a few issues. The worst of which is probably it completely deleting my Realtek hd audio driver so my headphones don't even get seen now amongst other things. Microsoft really has turned into **** and is getting worse. Stop **** up these systems after you get them slightly decent. I have Windows 10 and usually wait about 5 updates behind to keep it stable because you **** can't even make a functional update, or not include something that I don't need. You also make **** no one wants mandatory. Only have windows 10 at this point because my laptop was optimized for it back in 2015 when I got it. Next one will have Linux and I'll build myself for that purpose. Glad I don't pay much for any software I do use from you imbecils. I can thank my father for working his ass off for this company back when Gates was still actually involved in it. I can't believe what you sorry **** have become. Thankfully theres superior things available. All I want to be able to do is use my computer for Games and school now that I'm out of the service, and believe it or not I like to use my noise cancelling headphones so I can hear what the hell my instructions are when I have to rely on videos. Sorry tech support and other folks dealing with angry people like me. I know it isn't you. That said I hope your bosses get cancer in their nether regions, and AIDS in their mouths for what they've done to this company and all the hard working people in it. Microsoft is doomed to fail due to it's lack of focus on quality rather than pet projects that don't even work. PS. supserfetch is stupid and so is cortana stop trying to make me use them with each update. I'm just gonna kill em both off again anyway

    :)

    Sound Quality

One thing that sticks out from looking at your "My Computer" specs. You list "ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)" which suggests you do not have the correct sound hardware driver. Your motherboard has Realtek sound and the first step is to install the Realtek sound drivers. My ASUS also came with Sonic Studio 2 which is a sound enhancement package. Check the ASUS install disc to see if you have something similar.

May not be a speaker problem.

    Sound driver off

    Hi,

It's possible that your sound driver was turned off by a third-party application. To fix it, we suggest that you use the built-in Windows 10 audio troubleshooter by following these steps:

    • Click Start.
    • Type Troubleshoot and press Enter.
    • Click Playing Audio.
    • Click Run the troubleshooter.

If in case the audio troubleshooter doesn't work, use the other steps in this
    article
. Just click the drop-down arrow and select the other choices offered.

Let us know if you're able to restore the sound on your computer after following these steps.

    Good surround sound headset

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue drivers for sound :p
