Windows 10: Dual Account Image's On Welcome Screen

Strange. I have been using the "fix" for some time. I use both IE and Chrome and have not had that issue.

 

I know that I did and when I reversed the fix the issue went away.

 

So far I haven't noticed any problems. If I do I'll change the setting back.

 

Great find! It isn't hurting anything, but also found it a bit irritating on the welcome screen! I tried it and it works!!! I used gpedit.msc from run (win+r). Here is the path if anyone is interested. Cheers! *Cool

Just a FYI. That would enable users having to enter both their user name and password on the sign in screen.

Not for me. As I said earlier, I used the fix using group policy some time ago. I do not have to sign in and only have one picture and log in, where previously I had two.

 

Same here Dave. Just do the following:

net user administrator /active:yes


control userpasswords2 (choosing the username to set as password not required)

Apply this "fix" for double images and all is good to go. At boot, a brief "preparing desktop" with your computer name and username and straight to the desktop. No credentials required.

 

It's different yet for me,
On a clean start or restart, after this, the next thing I see is the desktop




however, if I sign out or lock the PC I have to enter a password.

 

Same for me with sign out/lock.

You get no Welcome screen? Maybe I do cause I have verbose status enabled.

 

Occasionally, but it flashes by really fast with the PC name as user.
I still suspect it has something to do with MS signing in with you!

 

You're probably right. MS has to do all that syncing crap and verify you are who you are, etc., etc. Also probably gets your account picture from up there in cloud-ville. Anyway, with slight variations, it works! And that's all that matters.

 

Hi Tomcat. Was that for me? Thanks for the feedback. That is my standard procedure when I do an install. I have no requirement for a password at log in. I was replying to Brinks posT. As I said, I do NOT have two pictures, and I do not have to fill in the password.
