    Dual boot settings needed

I can not find this one and would appreciate a lot same of your help.

I have two OSs, Windows 10 x32 (needed for some software) or OS1 and Windows x64 or OS2 on separate hard drives. What is the problem? If I boot and load Windows 10 x32 and make shutdown, after I start computer, I probably will have screen where I can choose one of two OSs with certain amount of time (15 seconds) to make my choice. This is all right.

The problem here is that if I was on OS1, and made a shutdown, when I turn on computer, blue screen with dual options would appear and then if I choose OS1 again, I expect that my OS1 would load normally without restart. But it do not.

The same scenario with OS2 but with a problem. If I was on OS2 and shut down computer, next time I turn it on, blue screen with dual boot options came, if I choose OS2, I expect the same, that computer would continue to OS2 without restarting.

Fast boot options are disabled on both OSs.

    The question.

I would appreciate a lot of someone could give me a clue how to make settings (registry, group policy, services or anything else) with scenario that shut down procedure remembers last OS i used and when I turn on computer and choose that OS on blue screen dual boot settings menu, to make computer resume to load that OS without restart. The problem probably is in situation that Windows mount wrong hard drive during shut down procedure. Is there some shutdown.exe with some options to use for which I could make a shortcut to my desktop?

I am aware that scenario if i choose different OS needs to restart computer, but if I choose the same one I made shut down, I expect to continue loading OS normally without unnecessary restarting.

This scenarios came with 1903 version of Windows, meaning that I had my wished scenarios with previous versions 1803 or 1809. Something probably has changed.

    :)

    Dual Booting with Windows 8.1

The procedure below will allow you to boot Windows separately or in dual boot configuration.
Here's what I recommend to do:
    1. Disconnect the drive containing Windows 8.1
    2. Install Windows 10 with one drive connected.
    3. After step 2, reconnect the drive containing Windows 8.1
    4. Boot up Windows 8.1. Open disk management and take a note of the drive letter of Windows 10 OS.
NOTE: if you boot up Windows 10, then take a note of Windows 8.1 drive letter
    5. Open Admin command prompt and type: bcdboot X:\windows where X: is the drive letter of Windows 10 (Windows 8.1 if you boot from Windows 10 in step 4)
    6. Reboot the PC. You should have a dual boot screen.

NOTE: To break off the dual boot setting, Win+R->msconfig->boot and delete the none default entry on the list.

  3. Dual Booting

Please follow the steps in the tutorial for how to post the screenshot. I cannot even see Disk 0, 1 and 2 on the drive map, and the columns were not spread so i can see the labels in the listings above even though it lllustates how to do this.

As long as you don't have a UEFI install then you can move the boot loader to Windows 10 so that it manages the Dual Boot using it's menu, add the Dual Boot back from there. These same steps using EasyBCD should do it:
