Windows 10: Dual Boot Win 10 & 7

I run Win 10 (1803) on my main PC
I was also running Win 10 (1803) on a secondary PC.
I had a 3rd PC running Win 7 (for certain older apps I need)
The PC running 7 started to have major hardware problems, so I had to junk it, but kept the HDD with 7 and my programs.
I installed the HDD onto my 2nd PC and tried to dual boot after installing EasyBCD.
Not working - I get the choice on startup Win 10 or 7, but when I choose 7 I get the welcome screen then the flash of a blue screen and it reboots.
Is there a way to repair the boot on the Win 7 HDD ?

Upgrade to Win 10 from dual boot win 7 / win xp

Thank you, davem121. I have upgraded the mobo and processor several times so I think they will be OK for win 10 - though I will check as you suggest.

I will also disconnect all except the sata win 7 drive as you suggest. Can I reconnect them later or will the presence of win xp (which I don't need) on one of them upset things? Do you think I could uninstall the win xp part of the dual boot before upgrading
to win 10?

Dual boot problem

Hi all.

I have an older PC that used to run XP. I upgraded it to Win 7 and have now upgraded to Win 10. I now want to make it a dual boot Win 10 system, using the second drive as a disaster recovery backup.

When I set up the dual boot Win XP / Win 7, the system put system boot files on the XP disk. Now I can't boot into Win 10 with that disk off line, nor can I format the XP disk to install Win 10 as it has running system files on it.

I have created a recovery USB flash drive but even after setting the boot devices in BIOS to boot from USB, it will not boot from the recovery disk. My next step is to create a recovery CD to see if that will work.

Any suggestions?

Dual-boot Win10/7 or go back to Win 7

I only use, or recommend, dual boot if a new/separate HD is out of the question. Way less hassle and potential problems.
