Windows 10: Dual Monitor Sound Issue

Good morning everyone,

i have this issue i have been dealing with for about 2 weeks and its driving me crazy, i have a dual 4K monitor set up.

The second monitor is the one on my right and its also hooked up to my PS4 and XBOX, so i would like my primary source of sound to be the monitor on my left, Monitor 1 (Also primary monitor) when i turn on my computer from it being turned off, PC sounds come from Monitor 1.

If i put my computer to sleep, when it comes back on for use sounds auto switches to Monitor 2, and i can NO LONGER choose Monitor 1 for sound from my PC unless i turn off my computer and turn it back on.

I have tried to put to sleep again, but nothing, restarting it is a 50/50 chance. my only solution so far is to turn off my computer entirely. Any help you can provide will be really appreciated.

TLDR: I want sounds from Monitor 1, but after PC is put to sleep it switches to Monitor 2 speakers, and i do not want that. I want Monitor 1 for sound for PC.

dual monitors stops sound

Hi David,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

To assist you better, I suggest you to answer the below questions.

• When will the sound disable, when playing through main monitor or the extended monitor?
• Did you try enabling the sound from the sound drivers and check if it helps?
• Since from when are you facing this issue?

This issue causes because the monitor automatically takes the HDMI sound as the Default input. Disable and enable the speakers and check if it helps.

I suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.

• Right click on the volume control and then
  Properties,
• When you connect the HDMI it becomes the default output device, even though it has no speakers.
• You need to change this back to "Speakers" and set as default.

Monitor Sound Issue

I recently setup my dual monitors with my laptop port to work remotely.

Sounds is up all the way on both monitors and is not muted. I can't get any audio feedback to play from either monitor. I've tried digging around everywhere in the control panel as well.

Any thoughts or suggestions?
