Windows 10: DVD Burner Won't Burn Windows 10

I have a Dell XPS 8300 running Windows 10 64 bit Home Edition. The problem I have originally ocurred when my computer was running windows 7. I upgraded to windows 10 hoping that would fix the problem ,but it did not. I have two DVD drives on the computer the original that came with the computer and a portable DVD. I had stopped using the original drive when the laser stopped working and I got errors writing, but it could still play discs. The problem I have is that with the portable drive will play a DVD, but when I try to burn a DVD the program I use will say starting to burn but nothing happens. I can hear the drive spinning , but the files won't be burned. The portable drive will recognize a blank DVD and I have tied a number of burning programs withe same result. The original drive now will not neither play a DVD or recognize a blank DVD. Whenever I put a blank in it will say insert media. I have tried deleting the drivers and reinstalling, but that did not work.

I suggest you to refer to the below methods and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to run Windows Media Player DVD troubleshooter.

Windows Media Player DVD troubleshooter find and fix problems with playing DVDs in Windows Media Player.

Steps:

• Press Windows key, type troubleshooting
  and select it.
• Click on View all in the left pane.
• Click onWindows Media Player DVD and follow the onscreen instructions.

No DVD Burner in win10


Hi. Thank you for your quick response. I downloaded the suggested programme and was able to produce the necessary VOB files. I could not get the burner to work however. Although the programme recognises my burner as per screen, my PC tell me to insert a disc. I have used both my H and I drives, and also tried DVD+RW and DVD-R, both of which are compatible with the programme. Bree ( a forum guru), also suggested using DVD style.I downloaded that but got the same result. I know that you may not be clued up on the particular software, could there be an issue with the drives? when I check the device manager, things seem to be okay. I just feel that I am missing a step somewhere. When I used win 7, I didnt think about what I was doing, it just happened
