Windows 10: DVD RW is not recognized as a recordable device in Windows 11

All devices were working properly in Windows 10, and now neither CD RW 1 internal and factory from HP, and 1 external usb is recognized as RW. This is definitely a problem with Windows 11, and I should NOT have to search forums for fixes. Microsoft support searches for fixes just want to "explore" how wonderful this hideous OS is......

windows 10 and USB dvd/rw not recognized

I am trying to connect an external DVD/RW to a HP Stream laptop running windows 10 and when i plug the device into the USB port the following message appears "USB device not recognized". I tried the device on an older laptop that is running Windows Vista
and the device works fine on it. The device manager doesn't show a DVD/Cd in the list of devices. The device did not come with a driver and so far I have not been able to locate a driver, the manufacturer site only has a link to a site that requires payment
to solve the problem and they want more than the device costs. Any suggestion on how to get Win10 to recognize and install the device?

This circumstance can occur if the device hardware fails or if the device driver fails.



I suggest you to uninstall the Universal Serial Bus Controller
associated with the external DVD/RW (Cnm) and reinstall it from the manufacturer’s website and check if it helps.



To uninstall the drivers from device manager follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key + X and click on
  Device Manager.
• Expand Universal Serial Bus Controller.
• Find the Cnm DVD/RW drive.
• Right click on the driver and select Uninstall.
