Windows 10: e mail spam

The past two weeks my SPAM e-mail volume has been outrageous... despite SPAM filtering by my ISP.

Companies that are low enough to resort to sending out spam e-mails as advertising have recently really been working hard. Thanks to images in spam messages, a surge in botnets (computers that are hijacked by viruses to send out spam emails), a high availability of domains for spammers and underdeveloped spam filters, spammers have managed to increase their spam volume by 35%. This exceeds the expectations of internet analysts, and means that spammed advertisements now represent 90% of all e-mails on the internet.

New Jersey Man Gets Two Years Jail for AOL Spam e-mails

While I do not like spam or spammers, it is a hypocritical of the US to jail them.
The only difference between e-mail and snail-mail spam is that when you get snail-mail spam the government gets a piece of the action in the form of postage costs.
I think that if they wanted to be fair about it they should fine the e-mail spammers the current postage rate times the number of e-mail spam letters they estimate he sent.

So, current bulk postage is about a quater I think, so $0.25 x a jillion.
I think paying a quarter jillion dollars would slow down the spam a bit *Smile
