Windows 10: Edge Chromium problem with favourites icon on menu bar.

I am using Edge Chromium in Win 10 V 2004. I haven't had any problems but now if I hold the cursor over the grey star with three lines (Favourites icon) top right the Manage option has vanished and favourites is very slow to open and only a small part of the favourites list is displayed and if I scroll down the folders do not display what is in them unless I click on the specific folder. Previously if I clicked on this icon the word "Manage" appeared in the top of the icon box. Not now. Any thoughts please? I have uninstalled Edge and re-installed without any change.

Favourites bar icons in Microsoft Edge

I now have a favourites bar with ICONS very much like Chrome although a brief (one or two letter) name is needed. Hopefully the need for any name will be removed. To achieve this:-

1 - Enable FAVOURITES BAR in . . . More Actions - the three dots top right.

- Import your old favourites from Chrome - these appear as a Star Icon and a full web address - yuk

2 - Open HUB - the three horizontal lines top right

- Open the Favourites Bar by clicking the star option, Favourites and then Favourites Bar

3 - Click one of your Favourites to open it

- Now reopen the HUB and right click the link and Remove it

- By clicking the Star at the right hand end of the address bar you re-establish the Favourite with the correct Icon and the option to rename it to a single letter (not as good as a blank but Edge is fast so worth it?)

4 - You can re-arrange Icons by opening HUB and dragging the links up and down the list

Come on MS - let us have a Favourites Bar with just the Icons.

 

Favourites bar icons in Microsoft Edge

Is there any way of displaying the icons of my favourites in the favourites bar a la Chrome where you can have just a list of tiles along the top that do not have names. At the moment Edge is still going the old clunky by not displaying the unique
icon of most of my favourites and also not allowing me to completely remove the name. I want to have a favourites bar with as many of my favourites along the top as possible, not loads of generic stars with descriptions.

Such a shame as I think Edge seems really fast but it seems to have completely ignored basic user-friendly things that makes things easier but I'll be sticking to Chrome for the time being until they sort this out.

 

new ms edge - how do i restore my old edge favourites

there should be a star icon with lines, on the right side of the address bar, this will show the favourites (unfortunately it takes at least two clicks)

or

Ctrl+Shit+B to display the favourites bar, this will be pinned just below the address bar and allow a single click. (unless grouped in folders)

or

click the ellipsis (...) select favourites, then click on the favourite (at least 3 clicks)

unfortunately you cannot (yet) pin the favourites to the right side of the window, like you could with legacy edge.
