Windows 10: Edge Chromium Profiles - Start Edge with same/default Profile

I'm on Edge Version 79.0.309.71 (Official build) (64-bit).

I am using the Edge profiles feature to enable connectivity, bookmarks, cached credentials, etc., in order to connect to different environments for different customers of mine. I have a default profile 'Default' for my day to day browsing, and other profiles 'CustomerA' for work I do for them, and 'Work' for my corporate browsing.

When I click a link in an email, I want Edge to open using my 'Default' profile. Currently, Edge either a) adds a tab to a currently open Edge browser session, or b) if Edge is not open, starts a new instance of Edge using the LAST profile I was using when I closed Edge.

Is there a way to tell Edge to ALWAYS open links (from emails, etc.) using a specific profile?

Lost default photo viewer after profile rebuild


Thanks Brink. I've tried those steps before i started searching Google. After the profile rebuild i don't have the Photo app listed to choose to make it default in either the system settings for default apps or the Open With option.

I can't even find it doing a search. Seems to have been removed somehow with the profile rebuild, which doesn't make sense.

Might be helpful to list what i've done I've done the open with check, the choose default program in the system menu, tried that in device manager default programs also. I've checked the programs and features Turn windows features on/off and it's not listed there (never thought it was but that was a suggestion), searched the MS Store, it's not listed there either.

I don't like playing in the registry unless i have defined steps and haven't found anything for this yet, just the Win7 version like in my OP.

 

Customize Edge for default user profile

Hello All

I would like to know what settings can be customized in Edge and copied to default user profile. So it will be available for all user logging to the machine.

I tried to customize Edge, set a home page and display the favorite toolbar for example. However after using the copy profile in the answer file with sysprep. Settings are not retained for new users.
