Windows 10: Edge crashes immediately on start up

    Edge crashes immediately on start up


    I just did a clean install of Windows 10 on a machine that had previously been upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10.

    The only thing I have done so far, is let the updates complete.

    When I try to open Edge, it immediately crashes. By experimenting a little, it seems to be related to the default tab that Edge opens. I can open Edge by jumping to link, bypassing the start up tab, then it is fine.

    I am posting this via Edge and TenForums works fine, as long as it doesn't try to open the "new tab"

    Any ideas?

    Windows 10 Mobile and Cisco Anyconnect VPN cause Edge crashes

    Hello,

    I am running Windows 10 Mobile on Lumia 950. I have installed Cisco Anyconnect for VPN purposes. I can establish VPN, but anytime I do so, the built-in Edge browser crashes in a while. If I try to run Edge again with VPN already established, then it would
    not even start. I tap the Edge livetile and immediately when it brings up the blue full screen with logo it crashes right there.

    VPN is unusable if I cannot run Edge as a browser. Windows 10 Mobile is in serious need of fixing.

    Build: 10.0.10586.29

    Any fixes for this?

    Hi Shaira,

    Thanks for the info on soft reset. I tried this (twice). No change. Edge still shows the splash screen for a second, then crashes without trace.

    Since Edge is bundled with Windows 10, there is no separate update. The phone (Lumia 535) shows Windows as up to date. The problem started immediately after the latest update 10.0.14393.576 installed.

    Is there a way to roll back to the previous release? Or will this bug be fixed in the next update - if so, when will it be released?

    If there is a problem with something in Edge's cache or history, is it possible to clear the cache without first opening Edge (which I cannot do because it crashes....)?
